<p>Contains a bibliography of works by Richard Marks, correspondence, articles and a paper by Marks, philatelic items, and other material. Most material regards the genealogy and history of the Marks family in West Virginia, as well as West Virginia history in general.</p><p>
<emph render="italic">Original acquisition</emph> includes bibliography of 129 works authored by Richard Marks between 1977 and 1996, mostly regarding the genealogy and history of the Marks family in West Virginia, as well as West Virginia history in general. Many of these pieces were published in the "West Virginia Hillbilly". There is correspondence between Marks and the Cultural Center in Charleston, among others, regarding the progress of the production of two highway markers, which were purchased and designed by Marks, to provide a brief history of the Great Walton Fair and Dr. Perry French Marks. With the letters are copies of his articles titled "The Walton Fair", "Perry French Marks, M.D. Left His Mark on Walton", and "West Virginia Stamps". There is also a seven page paper written by Marks titled "Creating a University: The University of Charleston", a list of books used by Marks in the Kanawha County School system, and a compilation of newspaper clippings, photographs, stamps, brochures and other items related to the 1961-1965 Turkish-American Philatelic Exhibitions held in Ankara, Turkey.</p><p>
