This reel consists of three parts: Part 1 - Letters to and from state colleges and universities in WV detailing the assumed entry level knowledge of students in introductory economics, political science and sociology courses as well as the high school educational background in such subjects as perceived by college faculty. Part 2 - WVU student questionnaire responses which verify dramatically faculty perceptions with most students rating high school courses in these subjects as being very poorly taught. Part 3 - A checklist of WV high schools as to course requirements in these fields for graduating students, texts utilized in courses, and special aids used in class such as periodicals, films, and maps.
