    <head>Content Description</head>
<p>1862 Civil War map of Gloucester Point, Virginia signed by William H. Powers and Henry Andrew Black, members of the Piedmont Artillery formed in Beford County, Virginia. The map is hand-drawn and colored, and is thought to be a sentry map so soldiers knew where to go for guard duty.</p>  </scopecontent>

<p>The map was hand-drawn and colored as well as was signed by William H. Powers and Henry Andrew Black. Both Powers and Black were members of the Piedmont Artillery formed in Beford County, Virginia.</p>  </bioghist>
