    <head>Historical Note:</head>
<p>The South Asian Student Association (SASA) is an undergraduate student organization at William &amp; Mary dedicated to promoting cultural unity and awareness in the college community and among its members. The countries of South Asia are: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Primary SASA goals include: educating the university community of South Asian culture through educational, social, and charity events, encouraging students to learn, experience and continue South Asian culture, gather and round up students in addressing critical issues that face the South Asian community in the United States, and to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for university community members interested in South Asian culture.The Indian Cultural Association was formed in 1991 with its foundation year being 1992-1993.</p>  </bioghist>

<p>The records of the South Asian Student Association (SASA) at the College of William and Mary include the student organization's fliers, programs, constitution and by-laws, selected correspondence, scrapbooks and other material typically produced by student groups. One of the group's predecessor organizations was the Indian Cultural Association. Activities documented include events of the group, student leadership activities, and similar events.</p>  </scopecontent>
