Brownell &amp; Taylor, Providence, [R.I.], to E. Augustus Russell, Merchant, Petersburg, Va.  Sloop, Yankee, arrived on the 11th after a 56 hr. journey from Norfolk, [Va.]; the Captain and mate have gone home, but will be ready to set sail on Saturday or Sunday; will send molasses, sperm candles, and what he can get of brandy, cider brandy, and potatoes; there is no flour being sold because of news of peace in Europe, but before news of peace, sales were being made at 5 doll[ar]s; prices for items being sent, including rum and gin.  1 p.  ALS.</p><p>    25 July 182[1].  Receipted account of E.A. Russell, Petersburg, [Va.], for a pair of card tables, a safe, china, and one negro woman, Lilly.  Signed by Timothy Twitchell, seller.  1 p.  ADS.</p><p>    8 July 1822. Davenport &amp; Allen, Richmond, [Va.], to E.A. Russell, Petersburg, Va. Mary Ann left last night with coal and flour for Brownell &amp; Taylor [of Providence, R.I.].  1 p.  ALS.</p><p>    1 Oct[obe]r 1822.  Brownell &amp; Taylor, Providence, [R.I.], to E. Augustus Russell, Petersburg, Virginia.  Financial matters, including the statement that the banks have stopped discounting for the present; is waiting for the Mary Ann "to arrive with sweet potatoes any day; as soon as she arrives, will send her out with "Yankee notions"; gives old and new flour prices. 1 p.  ALS.</p><p>    10 October 1822.  Rob[ert] Abbott, J[unior] &amp; Co., Richmond, [Va.], to Edward A. Russell, Petersburg, Virginia.  Financial matters, including Towers &amp; Webb's Bill of Exchange not being accepted, and the fact that it is difficult to negotiate bills in Providence, [R.I.]; gives declining prices for flour, wheat, corn, and whiskey.  2 pp.  ALS.</p></scopecontent></c></dsc>
