<p>William III of England (The Hague, 14 November 1650 - Kensington Palace, 8 March 1702; also known as William II of Scotland and William III of Orange) was a Dutch aristocrat and a Protestant Prince of Orange from his birth, Stadtholder of the main provinces of the Dutch Republic from 28 June 1672, King of England and King of Ireland from 13 February 1689, and King of Scotland from 11 April 1689, in each case until his death.</p><p> The College of William &amp; Mary was named for William III and his wife Queen Mary II.     <head>Scope and Contents</head>
<p>This collection contains items relating to King William III of England (1650-1702) and his wife Queen Mary II (1662-1694) spanning 1689 to 1710. There is also research material, dated 1986-1988, relating to King William III and Queen Mary II. The collection consists of three letters of appointment to office, a commission (written in Latin), a warrant for payment of services, and a manuscript volume of public revenues and expenditures during the reigns of William III, Mary II, and Queen Anne (1665-1714). There are also letters written by King William III to Edmund Andros and Francis Nicholson, asking for their support of the College of William and Mary. Finally, there is a scroll which has the financial accounts of Lord High Admiral Russell with the government of King William III and Queen Mary II.</p>  </scopecontent>
