    <head>Scope and Contents</head>
<p>The collection includes Cooke's student scrapbook from the College of William and Mary (black and orange felt cover). a college notebook related to biology, diplomas, yearbooks, correspondence, photographs of various Arbor Day events across southern states, a 1923 William &amp; Mary class photograph, publications written by Cooke, and ephemera (membership cards, voter card).</p><p>It also includes Cooke's Chi Beta Phi pin, a felt green pillow cover with gold lettering and the Temple Seal in leather, a black and orange pennant, and certificates.</p><p>Cooke's William &amp; Mary scrapbook includes photographs of campus buildings: Wren, Science Hall, Library, Grandstand, Citizenship Building, Dining Hall, "Country Club," Jefferson Hall, Taliaferro Dormitory, Brafferton, President's House, Deanery, original Tyler Hall, the Tyler Annex, and Ewell Dormitory. Also includes are photographs of Lake Matoaka, Lord Botetourt, Founder's Day of 1923, Cooke inside the Sigma Delta Tau House, Yorktown, Jamestown, Bruton Parish Church, and one image of a William &amp; Mary football game.</p>  </scopecontent>

    <head>Biographical Information:</head>
<p>Dr. Giles B. Cooke graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1923 and received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in organic chemistry. He was married to Anna Dorsey Cooke and had one daughter, Anna Dorsey Cooke Allison, College of William and Mary class of 1959. His brother Francis West Cooke was College of William and Mary class of 1915. Cooke was a native of Gloucester, Virginia and died at age 77 on October 13, 1974.</p>  </bioghist>

The pennant was once owned by Giles B. Cooke, class of 1923. On the left side of the pennant, there is a depiction of the College Seal. The seal has a Roman temple in the middle with four pillars and the sun rising above the temple. Surrounding the temple are the words "Sig. Collegi Gulielmi et Marie in Virginia," which translates to "The College of William and Mary" in Latin. The pennant is 47.5in.(length)x14.5in.(width) and is in good condition.
