World War II Diaries, 1942, of a Civil Defense employee, Norman Freed, of Brooklyn, New York, who attended night classes in optics and engineering.
Entries cover his social life, such as parties, trips with friends to the beach, movies or theater, as well as work assignments and studies. He often works late and talks about being sent to other states to work for the War Department. Most of his friends are college graduates and take defense courses at New York Universities and are looking for jobs in the engineering and design sector.
He also mentions increasing overtime requirements due to the War.
