      <p>This accession consists of 16 items, 1768-1904, papers of 
         <persname>Joseph Nourse</persname>, 
         <persname>James Nourse</persname>, and 
         <persname>Charles J. Nourse</persname>. Included in the
         collection are: bound journals, diaries, account books, and
         commonplace books of 
         <persname>Joseph Nourse</persname>(1754-1841), and one
         memorandum book of 
         <persname>James Nourse</persname>; two English indentures,
         1805, concerning the settlement of an estate; six letters
         (electrostatic copies) to 
         <persname>Charles J. Nourse</persname>from 
         <persname>Henry Clay</persname>, 
         <persname>John Adams</persname>, and 
         <persname>John Quincy Adams</persname>; and a copy of a 1724 
         <geogname>Northern Neck</geogname>land grant.</p>
