 Scope and Content

These seven items, 1863 (1992), pertain to the Tate Familyand churches and homes in Wythe County, Virginia. Included is a letter, December 28, 1863, from James Graham Tate, Camp near Pisgah Church, Orange County, Virginia, to his father, Charles Campbell Tate, concerning the conditions of the Confederate army, especially his camp, during the winter of 1863, and mentioning several Wythe Countysoldiers. Along with this letter is a published version annotated by Agnes Graham Sanders Riley( Wythe County Historical Review, No. 42, July 1992). Additional material include a program for and a historical sketch of Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church, Max Meadows, Virginia; a newspaper clipping about Crockett's Cove Presbyterian Church, Wythe County, Virginia; and, two stationery cards depicting drawings of Graham's Forge Milland the Old Crockett Home, Cove Section, in Wythe County, Virginia.
