Arthur Jospeh Goldberg (1908-1990) served as Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1962-65), U. S. Secretary of Labor (1961-62), U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations(1965-68), and Distinguished VIsiting Professor at Radford University (1987-89). In the summer of 2000, the family of Arthur J. Goldberg donated his books from his personal working library, a selection of his papers (mostly speeches and articles) from the 1960s to the 1980s, and other items to Radford University's McConnell Library and the Radford University Archives. More than 1600 books, government publications, and periodicals from Arthur J. Goldberg's personal working library have been designated as the Goldberg Collection in McConnell Library's online catalog . The Arthur J. Goldberg Manuscript Collection contains writings and speeches by Justice Goldberg and his wife Dorothy.
