    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Alan Ray Shirkey was born on February 19, 1949 in Lexington, Va to Carl and Marguerite Shirkey. He graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1967 and taugh at the Fishburne Military School from 1972 until he retired in 2008.</p>  </bioghist>
