    <bioghist>
      <head>Biographical/Historical Information</head>
      <p>Stanton Forman Blain, son of Jean Throckmorton Forman and
         Randolph Harrison Blain, was born July 22, 1902 at Louisville,
         Kentucky. He was educated at the Virginia Military Institute,
         from which he graduated in June 1923. He subsequently earned
         his Master's degree at Washington &amp; Lee University. Blain
         was a Professor of Spanish at VMI for 41 years, retiring in
         1964. Blain married Emma Dorothy Guinn of Rockbridge County
         Virginia, on December 1, 1923. The couple had one daughter and
         one son. Blain died in Lexington, Virginia on April 14,
         1972.</p>
