Scope and Contents

This collection consists of three cadet scrapbooks (circa 1918-1937) and one photograph album (circa 1922) compiled by Medford G. Ramey (VMI Class of 1922). The scrapbooks and album document cadet life during the late 1910s and early 1920s and include photographs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, dance cards, and VMI memorabilia.

Biographical / Historical

Medford Grove Ramey (1901-1970) graduated from VMI in 1922. He worked at VMI as an English instructor and assistant football, basketball, and track coach. In 1931 he became the head of the VMI Physical Education and Intramural Athletics Department. Ramey served as a colonel during World War II. After the War, he worked at a veterans' hospitial in Richmond, Virginia, and later for Investors Diversified Services, Inc.
