<p>This collection consists of photographs and documents relating to General Randolph Tucker Pendleton's military service in World War I and World War II.
The World War I items include:
<ul>
<li>A German propanda flyer titled "The German People Offer Peace" (1918), which was dropped from airplannes over France shortly before the Armistice.</li>
<li>A circular letter (April 1918) from King George V thanking United States soldiers.</li>
<li>General Order (GO) 28-A (February 28, 1919) from General John J. Pershing to American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) soldiers thanking them for their service.</li>
</ul>
World War II era items include photographs.</p>  </scopecontent>

    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>Randolph Tucker Pendleton (1889-1973) was a career military officer. He graduated from VMI in 1908 and was commissioned in the Coast Artillery Corps in 1911. During World War I he was Commanding Officer of the 1st Trench Mortar with the I Corps, American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne (France) offensives in 1918. 
During World War II Pendleton commanded:

<li>10th Coast Artillery</li>
<li>Atlantic Coast Artillery Brigade, Caribbean Defense Command</li>
<li>57th Antiaricraft Artillery Brigade</li>
<li>Antiaircraft Artillery Training Center</li>
</ul>
Pendleton retired in August 1949.</p>  </bioghist>
