<p>This collection consists of the personal papers of VMI Professor Samuel M. Millner, Jr. The papers include correspondence with his wife Esther Ayres Millner and with classmates, diaries, photographs, and documents.</p>  </scopecontent>

    <head>General Note</head>
<p>Samuel Morehead Millner, Jr. was born in 1891 in Danville, Virginia. He graduated from VMI in 1911. He was a World War I veteran and a Professor of French at VMI from 1911 to 1961. Millner died in 1985 in Lexington, Virginia.</p>  </bioghist>
