Biographical / Historical
Lomax Gwathmey, Jr. was born in 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated VMI in 1958 and went on to become an United States Army Officer. He died in 1970.
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of one scrapbook (1954-1958) compiled by VMI Cadet Lomax Gwathmey, Jr. that documents his cadetship. The scapbook includes:
- Photographs of the VMI Class of 1948 Ring Figure
- Photographs of President Dwight D. Eisenhower greeting VMI Glee Club members
- Scenes from everyday cadet life
- Programs
- Clippings
- Memorabilia
The scrapbook also includes two photographs dating from Gwathmey's tour of duty in Vietnam.
