<p>French playwright Moliere and composer Jean-Baptiste Lully's comic ballet "La Princesse d'Elide," a theatrical performance that included spoken word, dance, and song, was first performed at the Palace of Versailles for the court of King Louis XIV of France in May 1664 (Victoria and Albert Museum, "The Origins of Ballet," Coe, "Ballet en comedie" or "comedie en ballet?," 111-112).</p>  </bioghist>
