    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>Sue Yeaman of Martinsville, Virginia was born in 1912 to Edward Thomas and Nannie Maude Chernault Yeaman.  In 1930, she enrolled as a student at then-State Teachers College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education.  While a student at State Teachers College, Yeaman served as Sophomore and Senior Class Vice President and as Senior Representative to the Student Council.  As well, she was a member of the baseball, volleyball, field hockey, and varsity basketball teams, was in the Choral Club, A Capella Choir, Athletic Association, Monogram Club, Debate Club, Dramatic Club, and the Granddaughter's Club.</p><p>In 1942, Sue Yeaman married George Ronald Britton of Petersburg, Virginia who went on to become a Colonel in the Army Reserve and served as an Adjudication Officer for the Veterans Administration.</p><p>Both Sue Yeaman Britton's mother, Nannie Maud Chernault Yeaman '05, and her daughter, Nancy Britton Shelton '68, attended Longwood.</p>  </bioghist>

    <head>Custodial History</head>
<p>The items in this collection, which were compiled by Sue Yeaman while a student at State Teachers College, were later acquired by Yeaman's daughter, Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations.  It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.</p>  </custodhist>

    <head>Scope and Contents</head>
<p>This collection, which dates from 1932 to 1934, consists of ephemeral items, a scrapbook that contains photographs and newspaper clippings, as well as a thin STC belt buckle with leather belt, and a dresser scarf which inscriptions and drawings.</p>  </scopecontent>
