<p>Treva Cromwell was born in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1909 and graduated from Indiana State Teachers' College. "She was an officer in AAUW, American Field Service, Council on World Affairs, Girl Scouts Regional Council and the Glendale First Presbyterian Church. In 1960, Mrs. Cromwell became active in the League of Women voters. She served as President of the Ohio League of Women Voters from 1965-1969; and from 1969-1973 she was a member of the National League of Women Voters Environmental Committee, where she researched and wrote the League's study materials on solid waste." <p>In 1974, she and her husband Howard retired to Albemarle County, Virginia. In 1979, City Council appointed her as chairman of the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority, a position that she held until 1986. She continued to be involved with the community water issues long after that.</p>

<p>Mrs. Cromwell was a co-founder of the Ivy Creek Natural Area. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Senior Center, and the Piedmont Garden Club. She died July 29, 2004.</p>
