Andrea Maxine Lucas is a landscape architect from California. She was born on April 16th, 1952, in Palo Alto, California, and graduated from Berkeley High School in 1970. After several year-long stints at Western State College in Colorado, Colorado State University, and the University of California at Berkeley, she realized, because of her love for both the outdoors and arts, that she wanted to become a landscape architect. She graduated from California Polytechnic State University with Honors in 1976.

After graduating she spent 8 months working as a junior landscape architect for the U.S. Forest Service at the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, where she designed bike trails, signage, and visual impacts for ski runs at Heavenly Valley. She then returned to Berkeley, where she got a job at the SWA Group (the second location of Sasaki, Walker and Associates), a firm with work ranging from civic and institutional to commercial projects. Although she did not stay with the firm for long, she completed a design for an SWA Group client called Larkspur Landing that won a prize from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

After working with Ed Janelli, the husband and design partner of a childhood friend's mother (Ann Castleberry Coffin), Lucas was able to start her own business, Sites Pacific, an environmental landscape architecture firm, in 1980. She designed many residential gardens in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. She specialized in designing for 50- by 100-foot lots but also completed larger suburban projects. She became an expert in designing decks, foundation drainage, grading, paving and irrigation and planting plots. In the 1990s she worked with Alan Kropp, a geotechnical engineer, on biotechnical erosion control using willows to stabilize soil and prevent landslides.

In 1995 she married architect Tobin Stone Kendrick.

In 2000, she closed Sites Pacific and joined the National Park Service at Golden Gate National Recreation Area in the Presidio of San Francisco and later at Fort Mason. There she worked on accessibility and safety projects. Since retiring in November of 2016, she has served as Planning Commissioner for the City of El Cerrito, California, and was appointed to the Citizens Advisory Commission for Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the City.
