    <head>Bigraphical Note</head>
<p>Born July 7, 1840, in Pulaski County, Virginia, David Harrison Gordon was the fifth child and the second son of George and Susanna Bish Gordon. He enlisted as a private in the Confederate Army on April 16, 1861, at Blacksburg, Virginia, serving in Company L of the 4th Virginia Infantry. He died at Staunton of sickness on April 18, 1862, leaving no wife or children, and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetary with no grave marker.</p>  </bioghist>

<p>The collection contains a short biography and a certificate sent home to David H. Gordon's family, by the government of the Confederacy, after he died during the Civil War.
