    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Daniel Verser was a resident of Pittsylvania County, Virginia. In the letter, he states he was made a Justice of the Peace in 1824. According to the 1830 census, he enslaved 13 people, including several children. In 1866, he lived in Ringold in Pittsylvania County.
