    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Armistead M. Leggett grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 in the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program. He attended training at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before being transferred to Fort McClellan for further training. Leggett was sent overseas to fight with the 70th infantry division in the Alsace region of southern France. Leggett served on the front lines and gives accounts of several battles including the Battle of Wingen sur Moder. After the war, Leggett attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1951.</p>  </bioghist>

    <head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>A memoir written by Armistead M. Leggett addressed to his children telling the story of his service in the United States Army during World War II. The memoir also includes an account of a trip Leggett took in 1992 with his wife and son to tour the areas of Europe where he served during World War II.</p>  </scopecontent>
