Historical Information

Lynchburg, in Campbell County, was named for John Lynch, the owner of the original town site. It was established in 1786, was incorporated as a town in 1805, and became a city in 1852. Parts of Campbell and Bedford Counties were annexed to the city in 1976.

The Catholic Beneficial Society was a mutual aid society.

Scope and Content

Catholic Beneficial Society Ledger, 1904-1912. The ledger is arranged alphabetically by the surname of each member. It contains monthly dues received and expenses paid for each member. Additional income and expenses to other organizations are listed in the back of the ledger and indexed inside the front cover.
