<p>Benjamin Morris and James Conner General Accounts, 1831-1835, documents the settlement of accounts between the operators of a general store located in Staunton, Va. The accounts record debts incurred by James Conner through personal purchases from the general store and through merchandise purchases made on behalf of the store. Conner made frequent personal purchases from the store for items such as bacon, flour, tobacco, and coffee. Also recorded in the accounts were purchases Conner made for the store for items such as whiskey, brandy, and cloth and payments that Conner made on the store's behalf for freight and drayage fees. The transactions recorded in the General Accounts were taken from the original entries in other unidentified volumes kept by the general store.
