Photostat copy of the memorandum book, 1775-1820, of Alexander Balmaine, clergyman, of Christ Church, Winchester, Va. which contains lists of church members, baptisms, marriages, and deaths in Winchester and vicinity. It also includes scattered accounts and correspondence.

Minutes, 1842 March 16-May 3, of meetings of the Cerulean Society of Williamsburg, Virginia which was a literary club formed by three women who inducted male "knights" into the group. A "knight" read a poem or thesis at each meeting and his talk was recorded in the volume. The book was kept by Mary Greenhow Lee while on a visit to Williamsburg and contains a list of people she visited. It also includes diary entries, 16 March-3 May 1842, concerning her visit in Williamsburg and 20 September-17 December 1842, concerning a visit in Winchester, Virginia.

Book, 1896, of manuscript poems, written by [?] Piggott, of Winchester, Virginiaa. with the inscription, "For Clara E. Piggott written by her mother," which includes a table of contents and newspaper clippings.

Papers, 1831-1903, of Thomas P. Knox, his daughter Mrs. Janet P. Fauntleroy, her husband Charles M. Fauntleroy, their daughter Janet Knox Fauntleroy Harrison, her husband Powell Harrison and other family members. Letters primarily discuss family life and conditions at various towns in Virginia, including at Winchester, Charlottesville, and West Point. Letters also discuss agriculture, the Civil War, female social life, and other.

Scrapbook, 1897-1918, of Florence Hillyard which contains newspaper clippings, handbills, postcards, and pamphlets concerning civic, political and social events in Winchester, Virginia and especially concerning Charlie [Charley] Rouss Fire Company and Mrs. Charles Broadway Rouss. The volume includes family letters of the Hillyard family during World War I.

Business accounts, 1816-1844, of Lane and Broome Company (after 1824, John M. Broome and Company), Winchester, Virginia with accounts payable and receivable. Includes some letters from wholesale and commission merchants in Baltimore, Maryland.

The John Newton Bell papers includes personal and professional correspondence from relatives, business associates and religious figures throughout Virginia and the greater Appalachia. Letters document subject areas including the Civil War, the hospitalization of women in mental health facilities, agricultural issues, and religious matters related to the Presbyterian Church.

Account book, 1816-1875, of Jonah H. Lupton, merchant and farmer. Included in the volume are notes on livestock, home remedies, and the birth of children. Also included are Civil War notes, 1861-1862, concerning feeding the troops, the Union occupation of Winchester on 12 March 1862, and Jackson and his men.

Diary, 1862-1865, of Laura Lee, Winchester, Virginia. (?) entitled "A History of Our Captivity," discussing in detail movements of and occupation by Union forces. The volume also includes lists of persons who died during the Civil War.

A compilation of letters and reflections written during the final two years of the Civil War. Elizabeth "Nannie" Rea (1850-1924) was born in Winchester, Virginia and was sent to school at Ingleside Seminary in Baltimore County, Maryland in order to be kept safe from the conflict around Winchester, which changed hands more often than any other rebel city during the war. Her writings include personal reflections on the era she lived in, and letters to her family and friends.
