In 1886, Albert Edward was the owner of Sandringham House. The letter in this collection is on letterhead from that estate. As Prince of Wales Ablert Edward represented the royal family in a ceremonial capacity both within Britain and abroad. Following the death of Queen Victoria, he was crowned Edward VII in 1901.
