Genevieve's parents were Edwin Hugo Raders (1884-1956) and (Agnes) Margaret Gaffney (1881-1918). Her father worked as a farmer. She married Calvin Brooke Herrell (1913-1991) in December 1942 and they had one son, Gregory Raders Herrell, in July 1953.","\"[Genevieve] Herrell loved nursing and began her career as a stewardess nurse on the railroad. During this time, she met Cal Herrell in 1942 as he traveled home to be inducted into the Army. They secretly married in December 1942 and settled in Virginia after the war. In 1952, Herrell, then a civilian nurse for the [United States] Army, received an assignment that would change her life: to assist in the care of Margaret Wallace, Harry S. Truman's mother-in-law, who often stayed at the White House. Rottier was born in Bellaire, Michigan in 1909. He served in the Army in World War II and graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. He moved to the Washington, D.C. area around 1950 as a photographer for the American Forest Products Industries. He later joined the Commerce Department where he photographed trade fairs overseas, and then the Bureau of Land Management in the Interior Department, where he worked until transferring to the Park Service. Throughout his life he was an active member of the C and O Canal Association. In the course of his career with the Park Service, Rottier contributed to the photographic record of Lady Bird Johnson's beautification program, the development of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, VA. He died in 1988.","Processed by Eron Ackerman in 2010.
