Halsey remained in the Windsor area and worked as a farmer and leather tanner. He married four times: to Abigail Allyn (1784-1816); to Laura Wolcott Mather (1789-1831); to Eunice Talcott (1787-1858); and to Amanda Moore (1807-1880), and he fathered eight children.
