Guy Tetrick (3 January 1883-15 July 1956) was a native of Harrison County, West Virginia. As a young man, he moved to Clarksburg, serving as deputy county clerk, then later as county clerk and in various other civil positions. Tetrick was one of the founders, and later the manager, of the local newspaper the \"Clarksburg Exponent\". He was also involved in a number of other local businesses. Tetrick maintained a lifetime interest in genealogy and local history, the result of which was this collection, perhaps the most comprehensive private family history collection ever compiled for West Virginia. Tetrick was also a founding member of the George Rogers Clark chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.","Willis Guy Tetrick, Jr. (23 August 1911-30 December 1995) was the oldest of W. Guy Tetrick's four children. He attended West Virginia University, graduating in 1934. He was a retired lieutenant colonel from the Army Corps of Engineers and was owner and operator of Mineral Property Management. He shared his father's interest in history and genealogy.","A dedication ceremony for the collection was held on 20 September 1997. The vast majority of them were about genealogy, family history, and local history of West Virginia and neighboring states. She graduated from Douglass High School in 1947 and went on to attend West Virginia State College, graduating magna cum laude in 1950 with a degree in English.  She was the first full time black student at Marshall University and received her master's degree in English in 1954.  She received her Ed.D. in English from West Virginia University in 1974.  Dr. Bickley was a teacher at all educational levels and was Vice-President for Academic Affairs at West Virginia State College where she retired in 1986.  She continued to research, write, and speak from her retirement home in Florida where she lived with her husband Nelson.  Some of her accolades include the Mountain State Bar Association's Distinguished Citizen Award, 1978; the National Education Association's The Carter G. Woodson Memorial Award, 1980; West Virginia Woman of the Year, 1984; the West Virginia State College Alumnus of the Year, 1988; and was a Rockefeller Foundation Scholar at Marshall University in 1999.","Dr. Bickley was a prolific speaker and in addtion to the speeches, she authored many stories, plays, and articles.
