Canada was wounded and captured during the Battle of Gettysburg and was paroled at David's Island, on September 27, 1863. Afterward, he was hospitalized in Chimborazo Hospital (Richmond), then given a month's furlough. and assigned to light duty with the Conscription Bureau in September, 1864.","John R. Hudson enlisted in Company E at Lynchburg, Virginia on May 27, 1861.
