Also present in the miscellaneous correspondence\n         folder is a letter from \n         Bill Daleto \n         Caroline Gableconcerning the project to\n         preserve Fraser's horticultural work in \n         British Columbia(1990 Feb 20).","There is a great deal of biographical information about \n         George Fraserin this collection in the\n         article by \n         Bill Dale, \"The\n         Cornwall-Pennsylvania-British Columbia Connection\" and \n         George Fraser Plantsmancompiled by \n         Bill Dale, \n         Frances Gundry, and Dr. \n         Stuart Hollandat the conclusion of their\n         project to collect all available Fraser material.","Fraser was born at Draimie, Morayshire, Scotland, on\n         October 25, 1854. At seventeen he began his apprenticeship at\n         Gordon Castle with the gardener, John Webster, and continued\n         working in Scotland until he immigrated to Canada in 1883. He\n         first settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but moved to British\n         Columbia in 1888. Fraser lived and worked in his nursery on\n         Vancouver Island for the last fifty years of his life,\n         carrying on a vast amount of correspondence with other\n         rhododendron growers and hybridizers.
