Vance grew up in a socially progressive Richmond household and, at William and Mary between 1981 and 1985, was surprised to find an environment far more conservative and hostile than the one his parents fostered for him during his youth. Now an accomplished writer, Briceland related to me several moving stories of hard times he experienced and witnessed at William \u0026amp; Mary.
