He had attended the Jaipur College. Religiously he and his family were Hindus, he knew Urdu, had a living father, wife, and children (two sons: Hargobind and Gobinda, and daughters). He owned land in Jaipur. His son, Hargobind, was married, had children and was part of the 7th Meerut Division, an infantry division of the British Indian Army that saw active service during WWI. Hargobind was sent to the Middle Eastern front in May of 1918 where he headed a hospital and was wounded. He survived and recovered well. He spent most of his time in Egypt.
