Eugene Rowe was born Northumberland County, Virginia. He attended VPI from 1926-1933, when he graduated with a degree in Business. Beginning in the 1950s, he became active in the Alumni Association. In 1968, he began the first of two successive terms on the Board of Visitors, including 5 years as rector. From 1972-1985, he also served as president and then chairman of the Virginia Tech Foundation. Rowe died in 1987.
