He later received his masters degree from the University of Minnesota and his PhD from Indiana University. After graduating, he moved to Blacksburg, Virginia, where he spent the next twenty years of his life as a professor in the department of education at Virginia Tech. He later left Virginia Tech for the University of Georgia, where he was the Director of the School of Leadership and Lifelon Learning.","Cark McDaniels (1930-2019) was born in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his bachelors degree from Bridgewater College before he joined the U.S. Navy. After leacing te Navy, he attended the University of Virginia for both his masters and his PhD. McDaniels briefly worked at George Washington University as a professor of education. He also worked as a guidance counselor at his former high school, Washington-Liberty High School in Montrose, Virginia, before he moved to Blacksburg in 1969 to help found Virginia Tech's College of Education. He later created the Virginia Career Vital Information for Education and Work, or the Virginia VIEW. He retired from VT in 1996 and wrote two books about career counseling. ","Wayne Dempsey' M. Worner (1937-2025) was born in Wahpeton, North Dakota, where he worked for many years as a teacher and a principal. He later received his PhD from North Dakota State University in 1966. After earning a doctorate, Worner moved to Blacksburg, Virginia, where he helped to create the College of Education at Virginia Tech. He was the first division chair of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education.","Courses in education have been offered in specific programs throughout the history of the university, and the Board of Visitors approved a Master of Education degree in 1951.
