He was the head of the English department at Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra, Virginia from 1945 to 1949. He was an English teacher at Lane High School in Charlottesville, VA from 1949 until the school shut down under the Stanley Plan in September 1958 to protest the U.S. Supreme Court ruling regarding racial integration in  Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka . When the school reopened in February 1959, Barnes was the guidance director. He remained in that position until at least 1963. He was the head of the English department at Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra, Virginia from 1945 to 1949. He was an English teacher at Lane High School in Charlottesville, VA from 1949 until the school shut down under the Stanley Plan in September 1958 to protest the U.S. Supreme Court ruling regarding racial integration in  Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka . When the school reopened in February 1959, Barnes was the guidance director. He remained in that position until at least 1963. Main St. in Harrisonburg. Alma's husband Camillo Pabst (1894-1970) also taught at the school. The school offered special training in piano, violin, harmony, and music history. It was in operation until approximately 1983. The school held programs and recitals at local schools and churches including Muhlenberg Lutheran Church, Assembly Hall (Harrisonburg Courthouse), Dayton United Brethren Church, Timberville High School, and the auditorium of the Pabst School of Music.","Alma Campbell Pabst graduated from Harrisonburg High School and Mary Baldwin College with a degree in music. She also studied music at Columbia University. Her parents Amanda and John Randolph Campbell took over the Campbell Hotel in 1916. Alma began a music school that same year and ran it out of the hotel. While at Madison, Watson was a member of SGA, Sigma Phi Lambda, the Math Club, the Cotillion Dance Club, YWCA, and the Baptist Student Union. She graduated in 1965 with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and a minor in physics. It was Business 340: Data Processing for Business, a course she took during her last semester at Madison, that inspired Watson to pursue a career in programming/analysis.","Her sister, Virginia Lee Tadlock Brown, graduated with a degree in mathematics in 1962.","After graduation in 1965 through 1972, Watson worked for Bellcomm, Inc. Watson's work at Bellcomm assisted in the implementation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Apollo lunar missions. Specifically, Watson prepared lunar landscape scenes for astronaut training and did trajectory analysis of all phases from launch to reentry. After 14 years as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, Watson joined Advanced Technology Systems (ATS) in 1987, eventually becoming a Cobol programmer, supporting Housing of Urban Development (HUD) Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loans.
