The women's team was organized 16 years later in 1981. Both teams strove for excellence over the decades following their formations under the helms of their respective longstanding coaches coaches. Al Albert, a 1969 graduate of the College, returned to his alma mater to coach the men's soccer team in 1971. He led the Tribe to 401 wins over the course of his 32 year career, making him the eighth coach in the history of NCAA men's soccer to achieve more than four hundred wins and only the third to do so at one school. John Daly took the position of head coach of the women's soccer team in 1987 and has since led the team to success in both regular and post season competition, earning his own 400th win in 2016. In 2004, these two longstanding coaches were recognized together by the naming, in their honor, of Albert-Daly field, where both teams have since played their home games.
