The women's team was organized 16 years later in 1981. Both teams strove for excellence over the decades following their formations under the helms of their respective longstanding coaches coaches. Al Albert, a 1969 graduate of the College, returned to his alma mater to coach the men's soccer team in 1971. He led the Tribe to 401 wins over the course of his 32 year career, making him the eighth coach in the history of NCAA men's soccer to achieve more than four hundred wins and only the third to do so at one school.
