After graduation, he served as a newspaper reporter in Stauton, Virginia before joining the Curtis Publishing Company. He then became travel editor and then editor-in-chief of Holiday Magazine. He was a distinguished writer and editor, with articles appearing in Atlantic Monthly, Travel \u0026 Leisure, The Saturday Evening Post, and The Ladies' Home Journal.
