The ledger contains various types of entries. The greater part of the entries are in the form of a day book, commencing on November 27, 1846 and ending on December 25, 1860. Entries include dates, customer names, descriptions of transactions, and prices. The transaction descriptions indicate that Halsey was conducting other businesses in conjunction with the tannery. Also included in the volume are lists of stocks and bonds owned by Halsey and account entries for services rendered to various individuals, including as administrator of the estate of Abial Wilson. Several newspaper clippings have been affixed to the end papers. Most of these relate to Halsey's various business interests, but also included are articles titled \"Evil Effects of Study out of Schools,\" and \"The Habits of Shad.\"","The copyright status of this collection is unknown.
